For most pregnant women, one of the biggest concerns is weight gain. Not only can excess weight gain increase your risk of certain complications such as gestational diabetes or pre-eclampsia, it can also make labor and delivery more difficult. It also means you will take longer to lose the weight after delivering your baby, and that can be a depressing thought to most women.

The media likes to present pictures of celebrities showing off fit, trim figures mere weeks after having their babies (though these are often photoshopped). This gives some women the idea that they will be a failure if they don’t return to their old figure immediately after giving birth. The truth is, you are going to gain a significant amount of weight, and it isn’t always easy to lose after the pregnancy is over. However, there is no need to give up and just accept fat and flab as an inevitable part of motherhood. There are a few things you can do to make post-baby weight loss easier and faster.

For one thing, you are only supposed to gain around 25 to 35 pounds during pregnancy. More than 35 pounds can put you at risk of complications. Remember that what you eat is even more important than how much you eat. Your baby needs nutritious foods such as fruits and vegetables, and eating a healthy diet can keep you from gaining too much weight. Gaining less weight during pregnancy means you will have less to lose afterward.

Also, develop an exercise routine and stick to it. Exercise is safe during all pregnancy stages provided you aren’t having a high-risk pregnancy. Do talk to your doctor first before developing an exercise routine, and don’t do anything overly strenuous. Many pregnant women have found that walking for about an hour every day helps them stay in shape during pregnancy, and it’s easy to continue after giving birth. A bonus is that your new baby will most likely be soothed by riding in the stroller, and this is an activity you can continue as he or she grows.

With a little attention to diet and exercise, your pregnancy can be both safe and healthy. You can avoid complications due to excess weight gain, and enjoy a faster return to your old figure after you have your baby.

The good news is that most yeast infections can be cleared up within a week or less, with either creams you apply directed on the affected area, or medication you take orally. For very aggressive infections your doctor may recommend you use both methods. For all but the most stubborn infections, these methods will clear up your symptoms in no time.

You can soon resume your regular activities without pain or worry. However, be sure that your yeast infection is completely gone before having sex with your partner again. Most people don’t know this, but a yeast infection in men is not unheard of. In fact, it’s more common than you might think.

We all have yeast in our bodies anyway, and as you have already learned it will sometimes grow out of control. This can happen to men as well as women. The yeast in their own bodies can multiply and cause an infection of the groin or other areas, due to taking antibiotics or other reasons. Often this happens in men who are not even sexually active at the time, so it doesn’t always mean a man has recently slept with a woman who had an infection. However, you can spread your infection to your boyfriend or husband, so from the moment you suspect something is wrong, until you know you are completely healed, abstain from sexual contact. These infections are sometimes passed back and forth between two partners over time, and it can be very annoying to suffer repeat infections over many months.

If your partner has contracted a yeast infection along with you, the same treatments that you take should work for him as well. He might feel silly applying an ointment marketed to women on television, but it will clear up his discomfort in about the same length of time it takes to cure your infection. He might also wish to visit his doctor for confirmation of the diagnosis, and a prescription just for him if the infection is particularly stubborn. Once the two of you are both healed, you should be able to resume having sex without any worries.

One of the most common problems, especially in late pregnancy, is back pain. Normally we think of lower back pain with pregnancy, but upper back pain can occur as well.

During pregnancy a woman is carrying around a lot of extra weight – not only the fetus itself, but amniotic fluid, weight gain from the pregnancy, and larger breasts. All of this extra weight is bound to cause strain on her back as well as other muscles in the body. Lower back pain often results from the weight of the pregnancy pulling a woman’s center of gravity forward. As she compensates for this by leaning slightly backwards, lower back pain can develop. Upper back pain can also happen due to being off-balance and compensating, and it can definitely be caused by larger, swollen breasts that a woman’s body is not used to carrying around.

Back pain during pregnancy can also be caused by sitting in awkward positions. With a large belly in the way, women will compensate for their changing size and find themselves sitting in positions that can cause muscle cramping and soreness. There are a number of back braces and belly supporting garments on the market that may help to alleviate this problem. Many are specially designed for pregnancy, and can be found in maternity stores or ordered from specialty catalogs. Reading reviews or getting a recommendation from other women in the same situation would be a good idea before ordering the product. There are also cushions and other devices that can help make sitting for long periods more comfortable.

When back pain is severe, the pregnant woman should talk to her doctor for advice on how best to deal with it. As with any other ailment during pregnancy, drugs to manage the pain are discouraged, but an OBGYN should be able to give some advice on how to deal with the discomfort.

Not only do you avoid the hormones, excess fat, and other dietary issues related to meat-based diets, but you are most likely eating large amounts of fruits and vegetables as well. Most people don’t eat enough produce as it is, and they are missing vital nutrients because of the common meat and bread based diet. You are ahead of the curve where this is concerned, and your body is reaping the benefits of all the nutrients in fruits and vegetables.

The only nutrient that can sometimes be lacking in vegetarian or vegan diets is vitamin B 12. This vitamin is naturally found in meat and seafood products, so it is easy to see why you might not be getting adequate amounts. However, this is usually not a huge problem since B 12 can be found in fortified cereals, as well as soy milk and other products marketed to vegetarians. Of course, you can also just take the vitamin in supplement form and avoid developing a deficiency that way. The main thing you need to do is be aware of the importance of B 12 and make sure you are getting enough of it from some source. Most vegetarians and vegans have no trouble with B 12 deficiencies because they take steps to avoid it developing in the first place.

Just in case, it helps to be aware of B12 deficiency symptoms so that you will know if you do develop a deficiency. These can vary from person to person, but may include stomach troubles, weakness and fatigue, neurological changes such as depression or confusion, skin changes like paleness or white spots on the skin, and a tingling sensation in the hands or feet. Again, if you take a supplement or eat fortified products, you are extremely unlikely to develop this deficiency, but it is something to be aware of if you don’t eat meat products. The benefits of a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle greatly outweigh this one issue, so just make sure to supplement with B 12 and you will reap the benefits of your healthy lifestyle for years to come.

If you answered, “hardly working” you probably just need to find your inspiration to keep going throughout the day. After all, life is only what you make of it. If you aren’t making much of it you may regret that in the future.

For instance, try reading some hard work quotes to get yourself in the mood. Maybe a new perspective or some inspirational words will perk you up. If you find some quotes you really love, print them out and stick them up around your office for a daily mood booster.

Have you had some coffee today? While it’s not good to foster a regular dependency on caffeine, once in a while we could all use a little energy boost. Go make a pot of coffee in the break room. While you’re at it, ask your co-workers if they could use a boost as well. Sometimes just a simple conversation or a little human interaction can break up the monotony of cubicle life and help you get energized.

When you have a break, do you stay in your cubicle and play on the computer? This is a bad idea. These few minutes are your chance to rejuvenate, so don’t waste it stuck in the same little space staring at the same old screen. Get outside for a breath of fresh air and a quick walk, and you’ll be amazed at how much better you feel. Or, you could use the time to strike up a conversation with co-workers and foster some office camaraderie. Whatever you do, just get out of that depression cubicle and give your body and mind a break. That’s what your break is for!

If all else fails, you could just be bored with your job, so ask your boss for some different work or a new responsibility. Most of us feel more competent and energized when we have something new to challenge our minds. Shifting gears a bit may be all you need to re-discover your energy and passion for work.

Finding that one special girl is only half the battle, however. If you want her to say yes when you pop the question, you need to demonstrate to her that you are truly ready for this level of commitment. Beyond the emotions of love and the excitement of a wedding, what truly matters to most young women is seeing that her potential groom is prepared for the future. If you want to be sure she will say yes, there are a few steps you might want to take first.

Is your employment secure? Don’t let notions of gold diggers and shallow, materialistic women get in the way of this important fact: women are not after you for money, but if you want a woman to have children with you and rely on you, she will evaluate whether you will be a good provider. This is a natural instinct that goes all the way back to our caveman roots, and there isn’t a whole lot you can do about it other than play along. Remember that when a woman is pregnant or taking care of a small child, she can be very dependent upon a man. You want her to feel secure enough to accept your proposal, so if your career isn’t already established, work on that first before popping the question.

Have you been researching how to buy a house? If you haven’t, you need to be thinking about this. Don’t worry too much; it’s not that she’s going to evaluate your home and then pick the man who has the biggest one. Again, it is about seeing that you are responsible and prepared for the future. You might have a lot of fun eating take-out on the floor and engaging in water balloon battles with your roommate, but if you want a woman to see you as a responsible man who is prepared to have a family, looking into home ownership (and a dining room table) is not a bad idea.

Rest assured that what matters to most women is that she truly loves you, and she will want to say yes when you ask her to marry you. It is very unlikely you will hear a “no” when proposing. However, if the future looks uncertain you may hear a “maybe later”. If you get your ducks in a row first, the answer is sure to be “yes” right away.

Chicken soup will be made and plenty of hugs and reassurance given. Typically, kids bounce back within a few days and life goes on, but if your child’s symptoms persist for a longer period than usual, you may begin to suspect he or she has mono. Knowing the symptoms of mono can be important so you can watch for signs of this miserable illness, and get help quickly so that your child can feel better faster.

Most of the symptoms of mono will appear similar to many other illnesses such as the common cold or flu. There will be fatigue and muscle weakness, fever, headache, and possibly also a loss of appetite. Your child will probably have swollen lymph nodes or tonsils, and may endure night sweats. A skin rash may also appear. One of the main signs will be a sore throat that doesn’t get better after a few days. In this case you should take your child to the doctor anyway, to make sure it isn’t strep throat. Another symptom of mono will be a soft and swollen spleen felt when palpating your child’s abdomen. Since most of us don’t even know where the spleen is located, this is one of the signs more likely to be detected by your child’s doctor, not at home.

The main symptom of mono is that your child doesn’t start to get better after a few days. Mono will seem to drag on and on for weeks. If you suspect your child has contracted this illness, get him or her to the doctor for confirmation. Also, remember to get your pediatrician to write a note for your child’s school officials, so that they can excuse your child’s absence for the duration of the illness. Most likely, school work will be sent for your child to complete at home, and you may want to research homeschooling to understand how to best help your child during this time. He or she needs to remain at home for the duration of the illness, to prevent spreading it to other children at school.

Insomnia often affects children with developmental delays such as autism, but can sometimes affect typically developing children as well.

There are several things you can try to help your child go to sleep. It is best not to resort to prescription medications if you don’t have to, because these drugs can be habit forming and create a long term dependency in your child that is difficult to overcome later. Such medications can also have side effects that are undesirable in anyone, especially a child. It is best to try natural sleep aids or behavioral strategies before resorting to any kind of drugs that can be harmful in the long run.

One very common natural sleep remedy is melatonin. Melatonin is produced in the body, and signals your brain that it is time to sleep. Sometimes, for various reasons, the body does not produce enough melatonin, and supplementation can help induce sleepiness. These supplements can be purchased in a natural foods store or even at most drug stores. They are inexpensive and all-natural, so they are easy to use and not habit forming. For young children, it may be helpful to get melatonin in a spray rather than in pill form. Sprays are easy to administer, and just one or two squirts is all they will need to feel drowsy.

Aside from sleep aids, either prescription or natural, there are behavioral methods you can try. Children thrive on routine, so putting them to bed and waking them up at the same time every day should be helpful. Also, having a predictable bedtime routine helps to signal their bodies that it is time to get sleepy. Getting enough exercise and sunlight during the day is another key to making sure your child is tired when bedtime arrives in the evening. Finally, if nothing else seems to work, you may want to evaluate whether your child needs as much sleep as you think. If he is functioning well enough during the day and doesn’t seem sleepy all the time, chances are he just doesn’t need as much sleep as other children his age.

Social anxiety can wreak havoc on your life, making you nervous at social functions, out in public, and even just at work. When you feel uncomfortable trying to make small talk with others, you may find yourself opting to just hide out at home instead. Unfortunately, you may also crave human interaction and find yourself lonely, yet unable to force yourself to go out and keep trying to interact with other people. It can be a vicious cycle of craving what you feel you cannot accomplish, and it can really wear you down over time.

Often all that is needed is a prescription for anxiety medication. Whether you need it every day or only for stressful situations like office holiday parties, the right prescription anxiety drug can help you relax and calm your nerves so that you can socialize with friends, family, or co-workers. Other times you may need talk therapy, in which a counselor familiar with social anxiety helps you work through your fears. Group therapy can be helpful as well, because you learn that you are not alone in your situation and that others often feel the same way. It can also help you learn coping strategies from other anxiety sufferers who have learned to overcome their social phobia.

If you have tried all of the above methods and still suffer from severe social anxiety, you may want to evaluate your underlying attitude toward therapy. Have you tried and failed in social situations so many times that you have begun to believe there is nothing that can help? If you find yourself giving up on getting better, and just accepting that you will never be able to go out in public without serious fear and stress, you may be suffering from learned helplessness. When you no longer believe anything can help you, you will not be fully committed to giving therapy and coping mechanisms a fair chance to work. If you find yourself in this situation, you may need to commit to more extensive therapy, so that you can first learn to believe your situation can be changed. Only then will the other tools you have learned become effective.

Right now the real estate market may be hard for sellers, but the decline in home values is great news for buyers. For those who are in the market to purchase a home, there are some great deals out there. The tricky part, of course, will be financing that great deal once you have found it. Ever since the market dropped, banks have tightened up their lending standards to ensure that they don’t make the same mistakes once again. What this means for consumers is that yes, it is a great time to get a good deal on a home, but it is not an easy time to obtain a mortgage.

Before you get too attached to a particular home, it is best to get a good idea of your financing options. Obtain a free credit report and check your credit score. If your score is under 620 you will not be able to get a loan right now, and even with a score over 620 there are no guarantees. A score over 680 will actually give you the best chances of being approved for a mortgage.

Aside from a good credit score, you will need a positive employment record. If your income fluctuates, or starts and stops a lot, you may not be considered a good candidate for a mortgage. A solid employment history is absolutely necessary to ensuring you will be pre-qualified.

If you have solid income and a good credit score, then you will need to schedule an appointment with a mortgage specialist at a bank to discuss your options. This will help you find out how much a bank is willing to lend you, and how much you can expect to pay toward your mortgage each month. Keep in mind that you do not have to borrow the maximum amount quoted to you; you know your priorities better than the bank. If you’d rather not be saddled with a huge house payment and be unable to take vacations, eat out, or enjoy your hobbies, then you should stay well under the maximum mortgage amount offered to you.

Once you’ve been pre-approved, the fun part begins. Shopping for your new home can be exciting, and you’re sure to find a great deal right now.
